Meet Our Pastor

Rev. Dr. Ronald Leon Bobo, Sr. is a Detroit native and a seasoned pastor, educator, and servant-leader with decades of faithful ministry. Raised in a God-fearing home, his faith was nurtured early at People’s Missionary Baptist Church, where he was baptized as a child and later licensed to preach the Gospel. Known for his pastoral heart and global vision, Dr. Bobo has dedicated his life to preaching the Word, developing leaders, and serving communities both locally and around the world. Since April 2025, he has faithfully served as Pastor of First Trinity Missionary Baptist Church of Flint, Michigan.

Pastoral Leadership

Dr. Bobo has served congregations with distinction for more than four decades.
  • Assistant Pastor and later Senior Pastor of Bates Memorial Missionary Baptist Church (Louisville, KY), serving a total of eight years
  • Senior Pastor of West Side Missionary Baptist Church (St. Louis, MO) for 32 years

During his tenure at West Side, the church experienced significant growth. Under his leadership, the congregation acquired a former Target department store in North St. Louis County in 1997, becoming “One Unified Church in Two Locations.”He has also served as Pastoral Ministry Assistant and Minister of Christian Education at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church of Pontiac, Michigan.
Community & Civic Engagement
Dr. Bobo is widely respected for his commitment to justice, advocacy, and compassionate service. His work includes:
  • Leading civil protests for utility justice
  • Spearheading relief efforts following Hurricane Katrina
  • Organizing water relief for residents of Flint, Michigan
  • Supporting voter engagement initiatives such as Souls to the Polls
  • Advocating for Medicare expansion
  • Promoting mental health awareness
  • Ensuring children were fed during periods when school was not in session
He is the founder of Great Things Inc. Foundation, a 501(c)(3) community development corporation that:
  • Provided hot meals to the underserved
  • Offered GED and computer literacy classes
  • Operated the West Side Music Academy 

Teaching, Global Ministry & Leadership

Dr. Bobo has preached, taught, and lectured at conventions, revivals, retreats, colleges, and conferences around the world. His academic service includes:
  • Instructor at Simmons College of Kentucky
  • Adjunct Professor at the Meachum School of Haymanot (Theology)
  • Visiting Professor at the Baptist College of Theology, Obinze, Owerri, Nigeria
  • Board Member for the Morehouse School of Religion and Central Baptist Theological Seminary
His denominational leadership includes:
  • Chairman, Foreign Mission Board, National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc.
  • Foreign Mission Secretary, Missionary Baptist State Convention of Missouri
  • Past President, Youth Department of the Baptist World Alliance
  • In 2008, he participated in a Holy Land pilgrimage sponsored by the Cousins Foundation through the McAfee School of Theology at Mercer University.

Global Outreach

Dr. Bobo currently serves as Executive Director of Sharing Hope International Ministries, a 501(c)(3) global outreach ministry providing preaching, teaching, disaster relief, medical care, and leadership development.
Through this ministry, he has shared the Gospel in thirty-four nations across:
  • Africa
  • Asia
  • Europe
  • The Caribbean
  • The South Pacific
  • Australia
  • North and South America

Family

Dr. Bobo has been joyfully married to the former Darlean Anita Daniels of Detroit, Michigan, for forty-nine years. Mrs. Bobo is a retired Special Education teacher. Together, they are the proud parents of three sons—each active in ministry—and grandparents to six grandchildren.
